Now Sounds #3: The Hidden Masters

Hidden Masters_coverI am a bit late to the party on this one but The Hidden Master’s debut single (released in 2010) ‘Nobody Knows That We’re Here / Grey Walls Grey’ is a fantastic slice of new psychedelia. Though their publicity cites UK bands like Tomorrow and Elmer Gantry’s Velvet Opera as influences, the sophisticated arrangements, pinpoint vocal harmonies, and skillful guitar work also bring to my mind Austin, TX legends The Bubble Puppy. Exalted company indeed!

Though they have been quiet on the vinyl front since, the good news is that The Hidden Masters (from Glasgow, Scotland) have signed to Rise Above Records and a long player Of This and Other Worlds is scheduled for release on May 27th.

In the meantime you can still bag a copy of the 45 direct from State Records – here is the a-side but flip ‘Grey Walls Grey’ is equally as good.
