This single was the work of a band from San Antonio, TX. Released in May 1966, one hundred copies were pressed on red vinyl in addition to the standard run on black wax.
‘Walk’ is a total fuzz fest from start to finish and the guitar really takes off in the instrumental sections, aided by some sparing but effective use of harmonica.
‘Girl From New York City’ is a cover of The Beach Boys’ song from their 1965 Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!) album but with lashings of fuzz guitar added. A definite improvement!
Value: $150+ (for a black vinyl copy).
Reissues: both sides of the 45 are on Acid Visions – The Complete Collection Volume 1; ‘Walk’ is also on Mindrocker Volume 4.
